When preparing for a fishing trip in Venice, Louisiana, it’s important to make a list of important items, otherwise you might forget something essential. There are several things you’ll want to pack to ensure a successful and enjoyable experience.

At Run and Gun Outfitters we want you to know what to pack when coming for a fishing trip to the Fishing Capital of the World, Venice!  Here’s a list of things to consider bringing:

Fishing Gear:

Fishing rods and reels appropriate for the type of fishing you plan to do (saltwater, offshore, inshore, etc.).

Fishing tackle such as hooks, sinkers, lures, and bait.

Fishing line, leader material, and other accessories.

Appropriate Clothing:

Lightweight, moisture-wicking clothing to protect you from the sun and keep you comfortable. Sun-protective clothing, like long-sleeved shirts, wide-brimmed hats, and sunglasses with UV protection. Rain gear in case of unexpected weather changes.

Sturdy and comfortable footwear, such as deck shoes or rubber boots. At Run and Gun Outfitters we always recommend checking the weather so you can be assured of the type of clothes you’ll need to use. 

Safety Gear: Personal floatation devices (PFDs) or life jackets for everyone on board.

First aid kit with basic medical supplies. Compass for backup navigation. Fully charged cell phone with a waterproof case or pouch.

Food and Drinks: Snacks and meals for the duration of your trip. Plenty of water to stay hydrated, and hydrated drinks if you prefer.  Non-perishable food items in case your trip extends longer than planned.

Cooler and Ice: Cooler to store your catch and any food items that need to be kept cold. Ice packs or bags of ice to keep your catch fresh.

Fishing License:

Ensure you have the necessary fishing licenses for the area and type of fishing you plan to do.

Camera and Accessories:Camera or smartphone to capture your fishing memories.

Chargers and power banks to keep your devices charged, are great additions. 

Personal Items: Sunscreen with high SPF to protect your skin from the sun’s rays.

Insect repellent to ward off mosquitoes and other bugs. Hand sanitizer and wet wipes for cleanliness.

Trash Bags:

Carry out all trash and waste to keep the environment clean and protect local wildlife.
